8 Tips For Computer Science Final Year Projects

Final year project is the most important part of the entire engineering education. It is not just learning and studies during the complete four years but it tests your abilities as a student is innovative, pressure handling and proper management of time and resources.

Following are 8 tips which everyone student should keep in mind while choosing a final year project. Especially for  the IT and Computer Science Engineering students.

1. Select Programming Language:

It should always be a open source platform with an independent language. Select programming language like Java, PHP, etc. So that the project can run on every platform.

2. No Hardware involve if yes then with backup:

Projects for BE or BTech, Computer Science or IT, programming code is more important than hardware. So, the point is don't waste time and effort in hardware and score fewer marks. If you are sure your hardware will work 100% then go for it. Use hardware in your projects may cause of good marks. Note: Make a backup of your hardware.


3. Involvement of Wireless Networks:

Wireless networks like WLAN can stop working any time. Imagine if it crashes or stops functioning while project presentation day. That is why, we recommend avoiding Real-time networks for final year projects.


4. Less But Working Code:

Mostly students think “more the code the better it is”. So, this concept is absolutely wrong. The most important of all is that your project should work properly on your project presentation day. Bulky and lengthy code lead to harsh situation or can fail the whole system if small unreachable error occurs.


5. Include Relevant Features:


Do not add features which are not relevant to your project. For Example: in “Toll booth”, project has feature of “Location Sharing”, whereas, it should be “Invoice/Bill Management”.

6. Final Year Project Team Work:

Keep in mind that a project cannot be completed by one person only. So, even if you have any issues with your team-mate, just forget about it.

7. Be Planned for Project:

Never start a project without planning properly. Gather all the information, research well and then go for your selected project. You cannot change the project once the project proposal has been accepted by University.

8. Bug Free Project – Really?

If you think, now that you have finished the final year project so you can be free, then, sorry but the answer is No. Actually, now is right time to detect the bugs till your presentation day to have a properly performing and perfect project to showcase.
